What is the Follower Guard sequence when Disarm is enabled?

This article describes what Follower Guard does, step by step, when Cancel the follower entry order if it is not filled and Flatten the follower if it becomes out of sync are both enabled and Disarm Followers is checked. The sequence depends on whether the follower's entry received no fill at all or only a partial fill.

The Follower Guard Sequence with Disarm

1. Cancel Unfilled Entry (e.g., 5 seconds)

The timer starts when the leader's entry order fills. When it expires, Replikanto cancels the follower's entry order only if that order has not received any fill yet. Replikanto does not compare quantities here: a partially filled entry is not cancelled.

• No fill at all: Replikanto cancels the follower entry and, because Disarm Followers is checked, disarms the follower at the same moment (red). The follower may have shown yellow during those seconds, because it was flat while the leader held a position, but it never reaches the flatten in step 3: it is already Disarmed and holds no position. Together with the entry, Replikanto cancels the exit orders (stop and target) that this tab copied for that entry on the same instrument. Starting with Replikanto 1.7.0.0, the follower account's other working orders (on another instrument, placed manually, or copied by another Replikanto tab) are left in place; older versions could cancel them too.
• Partial fill: the entry is left working and the follower continues with steps 2 to 4 below.

2. Out of Sync (Yellow)

Because the partially filled follower no longer matches the leader's position, it becomes Out of Sync and turns yellow.

What this means: Your follower is now in a warning state. The yellow color indicates that the follower's position doesn't match the leader's position. This is a safety alert that something needs attention.

Starting with Replikanto 1.7.0.0, a correctly sized follower on a Ratio with decimals, Available Cash, Net Liquidation, Pooled Quantity (more than one follower), Pct Change or Pre Allocation is no longer put in this state because of rounding. 3. Flatten (e.g., 10 seconds)

If no manual action is taken (such as Flatten All), after the configured Out of Sync timer expires, Replikanto automatically flattens only the affected follower(s).

• Each execution the follower receives on the instrument while it is Out of sync restarts the countdown. The timer measures quiet time since the follower's last execution, not the time since the mismatch first appeared, so a follower still being filled in parts is not flattened while it catches up.
• Starting with Replikanto 1.7.0.0, connection or account updates from other, unrelated brokers and accounts no longer restart the countdown.
• When the timer expires, Replikanto checks the follower again and flattens it only if it is still Out of sync and still has a position or a working order on that instrument.

What this means: You have a grace period (the flatten timer) to manually intervene. If you don't take action during this time, Replikanto will automatically close the follower's position to prevent further misalignment.

4. Disarmed (Red)

After being flattened, the follower becomes Disarmed and turns red. It stops receiving any new orders from the leader until it is re-armed.

What this means: The follower is now completely shut down from copying. The red color indicates it's inactive. Re-arm the follower to resume copying from the leader (see Rearming below).

Important Notes

• Manual Intervention: At any point during steps 2 or 3, you can manually intervene using Flatten All to take control before automatic actions occur.
• Which Followers Are Affected: Only the followers that experienced the fill issue go through this sequence. Other followers continue copying normally.
• Rearming: A Disarmed follower stays Disarmed until it is re-armed with the Rearm button, the row's Flatten button (X), or Flatten All. Starting with Replikanto 1.7.0.0, Flatten All re-arms a Disarmed follower only if its position already shows flat; a follower that still shows a position stays Disarmed and the Log tab shows Warning [1073]. In that case, check the account's position in NinjaTrader and, once it is flat, click Rearm. This is a safety feature to prevent copying errors from persisting.
• Timer Configuration: This sequence assumes both the cancel-unfilled-entry timer and the flatten-if-out-of-sync timer are enabled in the Follower Guard settings. Keep the cancel-unfilled-entry timer shorter than the out-of-sync timer (the defaults are 5 and 10 seconds).
