Can I run Replikanto on an iPad?

Replikanto — the FlowBots trade copier — cannot be installed or run directly on an iPad. It's a NinjaTrader add-on, and NinjaTrader Desktop only runs on Windows. This article explains why, and covers the two questions customers usually ask next: how to access Replikanto from an iPad anyway, and whether a Signed NinjaTrader Machine ID can be generated or entered from the iPad itself.

Platform Requirements

Because Replikanto runs inside NinjaTrader Desktop, it inherits NinjaTrader's platform requirement: a Windows PC. It cannot run on:

• iPads or other tablets
• iPhones, Android phones, or any other smartphone
• Mac computers running macOS natively
• Linux systems

To run Replikanto, you need:

• A Windows PC or a Windows-based remote server
• NinjaTrader Desktop installed (Windows version)
• A valid Replikanto license

The Windows machine — whether it's your own PC or a remote server — must stay powered on and connected to the internet for Replikanto to keep copying trades. If it's off or offline, Replikanto stops operating until it's back up.

Accessing Replikanto From an iPad

While Replikanto can't run natively on an iPad, you can control a Windows machine that is running it by using a remote desktop app. The iPad only displays and controls the session — all of the actual processing still happens on the Windows PC or server.

Setting Up Remote Access

1. Have NinjaTrader and Replikanto installed and running on a Windows PC, or on a Windows Virtual Private Server (VPS) if you don't want to leave a personal computer running around the clock.
2. Install a Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) client app on the iPad, such as Microsoft Remote Desktop, from the App Store.
3. Connect to the Windows PC or VPS using its IP address or hostname and your RDP credentials.
4. Once connected, the iPad shows the Windows desktop, where NinjaTrader and Replikanto run exactly as they would on that PC.

A hardwired, low-latency internet connection on the Windows machine (not the iPad) is what matters for trade-copying speed — the iPad's own connection only needs to be good enough for a smooth remote-desktop session.

Generating or Entering a Signed NinjaTrader Machine ID From an iPad

The Signed NinjaTrader Machine ID is generated automatically by NinjaTrader itself, based on the hardware and software of the Windows machine it's installed on. It isn't something you type in or generate manually, and it can't be produced from the iPad — only the Windows PC or VPS running NinjaTrader can generate it, because the ID reflects that machine's own hardware and software fingerprint.

If you're accessing Replikanto through remote desktop as described above, the Machine ID belongs to the Windows PC or VPS at the other end of the connection, not the iPad — you don't need to do anything different on the iPad side.

To check or update the machine ID tied to your FlowBots license, open the License Manager page. This is a normal web page, so it can be opened from Safari on the iPad if needed — but keep in mind you can only change it to a Machine ID that a Windows installation of NinjaTrader has actually generated, and that after a change you must wait two hours before changing it again.
