Yes — a partial close on the leader account in Replikanto is copied to the follower accounts the same way any other order is. This article explains how the copy applies to partial closes, the correct way to close a position partially, and a common mistake to avoid.
How partial closes are copied
All orders submitted on the leader account, including partial closes, are copied to the followers. A partial close is just an order with a smaller quantity than the open position, so it copies like any other trade.
The quantity a follower trades for a partial close follows whichever copy method is configured for that follower:
- Exact Quantity — the follower closes the same number of contracts as the leader's partial-close order.
- Ratio — the follower's partial-close quantity is the leader's quantity multiplied by the follower's ratio.
- Pre Allocation — the follower's own fixed quantity applies to the partial-close order, independent of how many contracts the leader is closing.
How to close a position partially
- Submit an opposite order for less than your full position size — for example, sell 2 contracts when you're long 5.
- Confirm the order fills, then check that the leader's remaining position and the followers' remaining positions match what you expect for their configured copy method.
Common mistake: using the Close button
Do not use the Close button to reduce a position. The Close button is designed to close the entire position on that account, not a portion of it.
This distinction matters most when several strategies run on different leader accounts that copy to the same follower accounts. In that setup, the Close button flattens the entire leader position, which sends the followers a flatten as well — closing all of their contracts, including positions opened by other strategies.
