Yes, you can use different copy methods for different follower accounts. Each Replikanto window uses a single copy method for all followers configured in that window, but you can open multiple Replikanto windows or tabs to apply different methods to different accounts.
Understanding the Copy Methods
Replikanto supports several copy methods that determine how follower account orders are calculated:
- Exact Quantity: Copies the exact same quantity as the leader account. If the leader trades 2 contracts, the follower also trades 2 contracts.
- Pre Allocation: Sets a fixed, pre-defined quantity for each follower account, regardless of the leader's order size. The follower will always place orders with the quantity you specify, no matter how many contracts are in the leader's order. How does the Pre Allocation method work in Replikanto?.
- Ratio: Multiplies the leader's contract quantity by a defined ratio for each follower. For example, a ratio of 2.0 means if the leader trades 1 contract, the follower trades 2 contracts. Ratios can be positive (same direction) or negative (reverse direction, also called hedging). Learn more about the Ratio method.
How to Use Different Methods for Different Accounts
To configure different follower accounts with different copy methods, follow these steps:
- Open your first Replikanto window and configure the leader account instrument as usual.
- Select the copy method for the first group of followers by clicking the Method dropdown on the left side of the Replikanto window. Choose "Exact Quantity", "Pre Allocation", or "Ratio".
- Add and configure the follower accounts that will use this method. For Ratio, set the ratio value for each follower. For Pre Allocation, set the fixed quantity for each follower. For Exact Quantity, no additional configuration is needed.
- Open a new Replikanto window or tab (keep the first one running). You can do this by launching another instance of Replikanto from NinjaTrader.
- In the new Replikanto window, select the same leader account instrument, but choose a different copy method from the Method dropdown.
- Add the remaining follower accounts to this new window and configure them with the second copy method.
- Start copying - Each Replikanto window will independently copy trades from the leader account to its followers using the configured method.
Example Scenario
You might want to use different methods if you have:
- One account that should match the leader exactly (e.g., a personal account where you want identical position sizing) - use Exact Quantity for this follower in one Replikanto window.
- Another account with fixed contract requirements (e.g., a prop firm account that requires exactly 1 contract per trade) - use Pre Allocation for this follower in a second Replikanto window.
- Other accounts that should scale proportionally (e.g., accounts where you want to maintain consistent risk ratios relative to account size) - use Ratio for these followers in a third Replikanto window.
Important Considerations
- ATM Copy Feature: When using different copy methods, it's recommended to enable the ATM Copy feature so follower accounts can use their own ATM strategies for exit management rather than copying exits from the leader.
- Testing First: Before implementing this setup with live accounts, test with SIM accounts to ensure the configuration works as expected for your trading strategy.
- Resource Usage: Running multiple Replikanto windows will use more CPU resources. Monitor your system performance if you have many windows open simultaneously.
- Synchronization: Each Replikanto window operates independently. While they all copy from the same leader, slight timing differences (typically 10-200ms) may occur between windows.
- Pre Allocation with OCO Brackets: When using Pre Allocation with quantity 1 and the leader places OCO bracket orders (stop and profit target), Replikanto copies all three orders to the follower. This can cause issues where the second exit order creates a new position after the first exit closes. To avoid this, enable ATM Copy and place orders from NinjaTrader Desktop.
