Replikanto stops loading after a NinjaTrader upgrade (version mismatch)

This article explains why Replikanto can stop loading after you update NinjaTrader 8, and how to fix it. It affects Replikanto 1.6.1.7 or earlier only. Starting with Replikanto 1.7.0.0, one Replikanto build runs on every NinjaTrader 8.1.6 or later, so a NinjaTrader update no longer breaks it.

Symptom

After a NinjaTrader 8 upgrade, Replikanto no longer loads or is not recognized by NinjaTrader. You may see a pop-up saying the add-on cannot be found, or Replikanto simply does not appear in the Control Center. The NinjaTrader Log tab may show "Replikanto Version Mismatch Detected", or an error such as Could not load file or assembly 'InfragisticsWPF4.DataPresenter'.

Cause

Replikanto 1.6.1.7 and earlier versions were built for a specific range of NinjaTrader 8 versions, because they used a third-party grid library (Infragistics) that ships with NinjaTrader and changes between NinjaTrader releases. When NinjaTrader is updated beyond the range your installed Replikanto build supports, NinjaTrader cannot load that build.

Starting with Replikanto 1.7.0.0, the follower and remote-node grids were rebuilt in house without that library. One build runs on every NinjaTrader 8.1.6 or later, so once you are on 1.7.0.0 or later this problem does not come back after future NinjaTrader updates.

Fix: install Replikanto 1.7.0.0 or later

Replikanto 1.7.0.0 and later require NinjaTrader 8.1.6 or later. Check your version in the Control Center under Help > About. On NinjaTrader 8.1.5.x or older, Replikanto 1.7 does not load (NinjaTrader reports that it could not load System.Text.Json for Replikanto.dll): update NinjaTrader first, or install the Replikanto 1.6.1.7 build made for your NinjaTrader version.

Step 1: Download the latest Replikanto

Go to your FlowBots downloads page: https://flowbots.ninja/my-profile/downloads/
Under Replikanto, download the latest .zip file (1.7.0.0 or later). It is a single file for every NinjaTrader 8.1.6 or later, so you do not need to match it to your NinjaTrader version. If you use Replikanto Compliance Mode, download the Compliance Mode package instead.

Step 2: Install it

In NinjaTrader, go to Tools > Import > NinjaScript Add-On...
Select the zip file you just downloaded.
Allow NinjaTrader to overwrite the existing installation.
Restart NinjaTrader when prompted.

The first time you open Replikanto 1.7.0.0, the follower and remote-node grids start with the default column layout: saved column widths, order, visibility and sort order reset once. Your followers and the rest of your settings are kept.

If the problem persists: OneDrive conflict

If your Documents folder is synced with Microsoft OneDrive, OneDrive can silently restore the old Replikanto DLLs after the import, reverting your installation.

Pause OneDrive sync, or exclude the NinjaTrader 8 folder from sync.
Repeat Step 2 above.
Restart NinjaTrader.
