This article explains what happens when you use the TradingView Position tool to place Take Profit (TP) and Stop Loss (SL) exit orders on your leader account, why those exit orders are not copied to your Replikanto follower accounts right away, and what to check if a TP or SL never fills.
Short answer
You cannot set or copy TP and SL while they are suspended. Exit orders created with the Position tool stay in a suspended state until the leader's entry order is filled by the market. Once the entry order is executed, the TP and SL exit orders change state and are copied to the follower accounts.
Where you see suspended exit orders
Suspended exit orders are normally seen when you trade with a Tradovate account through TradingView or NinjaTrader Web. If your leader account is on one of those platforms, this is the expected behaviour rather than a Replikanto problem.
Why suspended exit orders are not copied
When you drag the Position tool onto the chart before your entry is filled, TradingView registers the TP and SL as exit legs attached to that pending entry. Those legs are not active orders yet — they are Suspended. Replikanto can only copy an order that is in an active state, so nothing is sent to the followers at that moment.
- Before the entry fills — TP and SL are suspended, and are not copied.
- When the entry fills — the exit orders become active, and Replikanto copies them to the follower accounts.
This is the same behaviour described in Why aren't TP/SL OCO exit orders copied immediately? — it applies to TP/SL OCO exit orders on Tradovate and TradingView leader accounts generally, not only to the Position tool.
How to use the Position tool with Replikanto
- Place your entry order on the leader account as usual.
- Set the TP and SL levels with the Position tool. They will show as suspended exit orders while the entry is still pending.
- Wait for the entry order to be filled by the market. There is nothing to adjust in Replikanto in the meantime.
- Once the entry is filled, confirm that the TP and SL now appear as active orders on the follower accounts.
If you use Market Only
With the Market Only feature, Replikanto handles exit orders differently:
- TP and SL exit orders are not copied while they remain active (pending) on the leader.
- They are copied to the followers as market orders only when they are filled by the market on the leader.
So with Market Only you should not expect to see resting TP and SL orders on the follower accounts at all.
If a TP or SL does not fill
Replikanto copies the trade; it does not control whether an order is filled — that is the broker's responsibility. Once an exit order is copied to a follower account it is submitted to the broker for execution by the market.
- Verify the price actually traded through your order level, rather than only approaching it before pulling back.
- Market dynamics can leave some orders unfilled at a given price when there is not enough demand at that level.
- If the price clearly passed your order and it was still skipped, record the order number and contact your broker's technical support to investigate.
- You can also use Follower Guard to act on followers that go out of sync because an exit order was not filled.
