Does Replikanto update automatically or does the user need to do something to update it?

Starting with Replikanto 1.7.0.0, Replikanto can update itself in one click: when a new version is available for your license, the update notification shows an Update now button that downloads, verifies and installs the new version for you. It never updates without your click, and you still restart NinjaTrader to start using the new version. If you run Replikanto 1.6.1.7 or older, you install 1.7.0.0 manually once; after that, Update now is available. This article explains how Update now works, what to do if the button is missing or the automatic update fails, and how to update manually.

Does Replikanto update automatically?

Starting with Replikanto 1.7.0.0, yes, in one click, but only when you choose to. When a new version is available for your license, the FlowBots Product Update Notification window appears in NinjaTrader with the message A new "X" version of your product "Replikanto" is now available. Clicking Update now downloads the release, checks that FlowBots signed it and installs it. There is no browser download, no Tools > Import step and no NinjaScript recompile. You then restart NinjaTrader to finish the update; NinjaTrader does not reopen by itself.

Replikanto 1.6.1.7 or older: the notification of these versions only has a Download button. Install Replikanto 1.7.0.0 manually one time (see Update manually below). From 1.7.0.0 on, the next versions can be installed with Update now.
Other FlowBots products (ScalperTicket, AveragePrice, AveragePriceIndicator) do not have the Update now button. They are still updated with the manual steps.
Customers are also emailed with the details of each Replikanto release.

Why you should update

Running an old version can cause problems, including:

License server connection errors
Bugs that have already been fixed in a newer release
Missing features and improvements
On Replikanto 1.6.1.7 or older, the add-on failing to load after you upgrade NinjaTrader itself. Starting with Replikanto 1.7.0.0, a single Replikanto build runs on every NinjaTrader 8 version, so a NinjaTrader update no longer causes this.

Check which version you are running

Open NinjaTrader 8 and select NEW > FlowBots > Replikanto. The Replikanto version number is shown in the window title.
Alternatively, right-click the Replikanto window, select Properties, and read the version number at the bottom of the properties window.

How to update with Update now (Replikanto 1.7.0.0 and newer)

When the FlowBots Product Update Notification window appears, click Update now.
Wait while the window shows Downloading update... N%, then Verifying download..., then Installing.... The other buttons are disabled meanwhile.
When the window says Version X of "Replikanto" is ready. Restart NinjaTrader to finish the update., click Close NinjaTrader. NinjaTrader closes the same way as with its own close button: you still get NinjaTrader's usual exit confirmation and workspace save prompt, and you can cancel.
Open NinjaTrader again. It does not reopen by itself.
Open Replikanto and check the new version number in the window title.

The download and install do not affect the running session: NinjaTrader keeps running the previous version until you restart it. Restart once you have no open positions or working orders.

What the update changes and what it keeps

Only the Replikanto program files are replaced (Replikanto.dll and its Portuguese language files, in Documents\NinjaTrader 8\bin\Custom).
Your workspace, follower accounts and Replikanto settings are not touched, and your custom Cross Order file (ReplikantoCrossOrderRelationship.json) is never overwritten.
If you use the Compliance Mode build, Update now installs the Compliance Mode version.
If anything goes wrong while installing, Replikanto restores the previous files, so your installation stays as it was.

If you click Later

Before clicking Update now: nothing is installed. Replikanto checks for a new version when NinjaTrader starts, only after your license is activated, and asks the FlowBots server at most once every 5 hours. So if you restart NinjaTrader shortly after clicking Later, the window may not appear again until those 5 hours have passed. You can also update manually at any time.
After the update is ready: the new version stays installed on disk and is loaded the next time NinjaTrader restarts. Close and reopen NinjaTrader whenever it suits you.
If you cancel NinjaTrader's exit confirmation after clicking Close NinjaTrader, the update also stays ready for the next restart. If you see NinjaTrader could not be closed automatically. Close and reopen it to finish the update., close and reopen NinjaTrader yourself.

"Do not show this message again"

This checkbox silences the notification only for the version it announced, except when your Replikanto version is no longer supported (see the next section). When a newer version is released, the window appears again. Until then, you can still update manually.

When your Replikanto version is no longer supported

FlowBots may stop supporting an older Replikanto version. Starting with Replikanto 1.7.0.0, when the version you run is no longer supported, Replikanto shows this message:

This version of Replikanto is no longer supported by the Replikanto servers, so Replikanto has been deactivated on this computer and cannot copy trades. Please update Replikanto to the latest version: if an update is available, the update window will open; otherwise, download it from the FlowBots portal. Then restart NinjaTrader. If the problem persists, please contact FlowBots support by email support@flowbots.ninja.

Replikanto then stops copying trades and closes its windows. Positions and orders already open on your follower accounts stay open, and the leader's exits are no longer copied to them: check your follower accounts in NinjaTrader and close or adjust anything still open. To use Replikanto again, update it:

When a newer version is available for your license, the FlowBots Product Update Notification window opens, even if you had ticked Do not show this message again. Click Update now, then restart NinjaTrader as described above.
If the window does not open, or you cannot update with Update now, update manually (see Update manually below), then restart NinjaTrader.
Until Replikanto is updated, opening it again (New > FlowBots > Replikanto) shows the same message, and the update window, again.

Don't see the Update now button?

You run Replikanto 1.6.1.7 or older. The button only exists from 1.7.0.0 on. Install 1.7.0.0 manually once.
No notification appears at all. The notification appears only when a new version is available for your license, only after your license is activated on this machine, and at most once every 5 hours. You can check the latest version on the release notes page and update manually.
The notification shows only Download. The automatic update is not available for that release on your installation. Use Download and follow the manual steps.
You are updating another FlowBots product. Only Replikanto has Update now.
Several machines. Each computer updates on its own: the leader and every remote follower (local network or internet) get their own notification. Keep the leader and the remote followers on the same Replikanto version.

If the automatic update fails

The window shows The automatic update failed: <reason> Use the Download button to update manually. The reason is always in English, even when NinjaTrader is in Portuguese. In every case your current installation stays as it was, and you can click Download and follow the manual steps below.

Reason shown	What to do
The update could not be downloaded. ... / The update download timed out after 5 minutes.	Check your internet connection. A firewall, proxy or antivirus may be blocking `flowbots.ninja`. Try again later or update manually.
The downloaded update is incomplete.	The download was interrupted. Try again.
The downloaded update failed its integrity check.	The file was damaged on the way. Try again; if it happens again, update manually and contact FlowBots support.
The downloaded update is not signed by FlowBots.	Replikanto refused the file for your safety. Do not try to work around it: download Replikanto from your FlowBots account downloads page and contact FlowBots support.
The update package contains version X but the server announced Y. / The update package's version could not be read. / The update package is missing ... / The update package contains an invalid entry. / The update package could not be opened.	Update manually and let FlowBots support know.
The update package is the regular build but this installation is the 'cm' build. (or the reverse)	Download the .zip for the build you use (regular or Compliance Mode), install it manually and let FlowBots support know.
A previous update of Replikanto.dll is still in use. Restart NinjaTrader and try again.	Close every open NinjaTrader window or instance, start NinjaTrader again and retry.
Replikanto.dll could not be written. / ... could not be copied correctly.	The file is locked, usually by an antivirus or by OneDrive syncing the `Documents\NinjaTrader 8` folder. Exclude that folder, then try again or update manually.
An update is already in progress.	An update was started twice. Wait for the first one to finish.

When you contact support, include the lines from the NinjaTrader Control Center Log tab that start with Replikanto: Automatic update to version. If the log says The installation could not be fully restored. Please reinstall the add-on manually., reinstall Replikanto with the manual steps below.

Update manually (1.6.1.7 or older, or as a fallback)

Use these steps to go from Replikanto 1.6.1.7 or older to 1.7.0.0 (one time), when the Update now button is not shown, or when the automatic update failed.

Open your FlowBots account downloads page and log in.
Download the latest Replikanto .zip file. Starting with Replikanto 1.7.0.0 there is a single file for every NinjaTrader 8 version (plus a separate Compliance Mode file for customers who use that build). Do not extract the zip file.
In NinjaTrader, go to Tools > Import > NinjaScript Add-On... and select the .zip file you downloaded.
Accept all confirmation prompts that appear. Click Yes even if NinjaTrader tells you a newer version is already installed.
Restart NinjaTrader completely to finish the installation.

The first time you open Replikanto 1.7.0.0 after coming from an older version, the saved column layouts of the Replikanto grids (width, order, visibility and sort) go back to the default once. Your followers and other settings are kept.

After updating NinjaTrader itself

Starting with Replikanto 1.7.0.0, one Replikanto build runs on every NinjaTrader 8 version, so updating NinjaTrader does not require reinstalling Replikanto. If you still run Replikanto 1.6.1.7 or older and it stops loading after a NinjaTrader update, install the latest Replikanto once with the manual steps above.

Troubleshooting after an update

License errors. Make sure your Machine ID is still registered correctly on your account, and check that your firewall is not blocking the license servers.
Replikanto does not appear in the Control Center, or NinjaTrader says the add-on cannot be found. On Replikanto 1.6.1.7 or older this usually happens after a NinjaTrader upgrade: install the latest Replikanto with the manual steps above. The full procedure is in Replikanto stops loading after a NinjaTrader upgrade (version mismatch). Also make sure OneDrive is not syncing the Documents\NinjaTrader 8 folder.
The old version is still running. The new version is loaded only when NinjaTrader restarts, after Update now as well as after a manual import. Confirm you closed and reopened NinjaTrader completely, then re-check the version in the Replikanto window title.
