Does Replikanto save follower account details and ratio settings so that they do not need to be re-entered each time the software is started?

Yes. Replikanto stores your follower accounts, quantity ratios, and all of its other settings inside the NinjaTrader workspace. Once the workspace is saved, Replikanto loads exactly as you left it the next time you start NinjaTrader — there is nothing to re-enter each day.

What gets saved with the workspace

A NinjaTrader workspace stores your entire trading environment layout: all open windows, charts, indicators, and add-on settings such as your Replikanto configuration. For Replikanto, that includes:

The follower accounts selected in the Replikanto window
The quantity / ratio settings defined for each follower
Replikanto window properties, such as Prevent copying in an inactive workspace
The position and layout of the Replikanto windows themselves

Settings are stored per workspace. If you run more than one Replikanto window, each one keeps its own settings inside that workspace.

How to save your workspace

From the NinjaTrader Control Center, open the Workspaces menu.
Move your mouse over the name of the workspace you want to save.
Select save.
Any changes made to the currently displayed workspace are saved, including your Replikanto configuration.

Save a copy with "save as"

Open the Workspaces menu and hover over the workspace you want to copy.
Click save as.
Type a name for the new workspace and click OK.

You are moved to the new workspace and the original is left unchanged. This is useful for testing a different follower or ratio setup without touching your main configuration.

Tips so your settings are never lost

Save your workspace often so none of your changes are lost.
Clicking the red X on a window closes it but does not save the workspace. Use Workspaces > save, or exit through File > Exit, which prompts you to save changes to all open workspaces.
When shutting down the platform, close only the Control Center and avoid closing the other windows beforehand.
A workspace named Untitled1 loads automatically at startup.
Press SHIFT + F3 to switch quickly between open workspaces.
Opening a different workspace loads that workspace's own Replikanto configuration, not the one you were just using.
To keep a copy of a tab's follower list outside the workspace, or to move it to another computer or workspace, right-click the Follower Accounts grid and use Export... and Import.... See Export and import the Replikanto follower list.

If one follower is missing after a restart

Starting with Replikanto 1.7.0.0, if one follower row saved in the workspace cannot be read, Replikanto skips only that row and restores the rest of the tab: the leader account, the other followers, the nodes and the layout. The NinjaTrader Log tab (Control Center > Log) shows this warning:

Replikanto: [Workspace] Could not restore one follower account from the workspace; it was skipped and must be checked again.

To fix it, find the follower that is missing or not configured, turn it on and set its Ratio and other settings again, then save the workspace. In earlier versions, one unreadable follower row could make the whole tab open empty; if that happens to you, update Replikanto.

If a workspace was saved incorrectly

NinjaTrader retains up to ten previous versions of your workspaces. You can restore an earlier version from Tools > Database Management > Restore.

Replikanto_*.json files

You may find files named like Replikanto_links_1A2B3C4D.json, Replikanto_order_names_..., Replikanto_strategies_..., Replikanto_server_strategies_... or Replikanto_follower_server_strategies_.... These are order-state files, one set per Replikanto tab. They are not settings: your followers, ratios and properties are saved only in the workspace, as described above.

What they do

When a Replikanto tab closes (you close its window or close NinjaTrader), it writes the links between the leader's orders and the followers' orders that are still open, such as order names and ATM strategy links. When the workspace opens that tab again, Replikanto reads the files and deletes them. This lets Cancel and Change on the leader still reach follower orders that stayed open across the restart. It is normal for the folder to be empty or not to exist: it is only created when there is something to keep.

Where they are

Starting with Replikanto 1.7.0.0: Documents\NinjaTrader 8\Replikanto (with OneDrive, the Documents folder may be under your OneDrive folder).
Replikanto 1.6.1.7 and earlier: Documents\NinjaTrader 8\bin\Custom.

The move is automatic. After updating, Replikanto still reads files left in bin\Custom the first time the tab opens, and then deletes them. You do not need to move anything.

Automatic cleanup

Starting with Replikanto 1.7.0.0, once each time NinjaTrader starts, Replikanto deletes, in the background, the order-state files of tabs that no longer exist in any saved workspace, in both folders. It never deletes a file less than 30 minutes old. If one of your saved workspaces cannot be read, the cleanup is skipped and runs again at the next start. The Log shows one of these lines:

Replikanto: [Startup] Removed 3 stale order-state file(s) left behind by Replikanto tabs that no longer exist in any workspace.
Replikanto: [Startup] Could not read the saved workspaces, so the stale state file cleanup was skipped; it will run again on the next NinjaTrader start.

Can I delete them?

You do not need to. If you want to, delete them only with NinjaTrader closed and when no orders were left open on the leader or follower accounts. Deleting them only removes the links to orders that stayed open across a restart; no settings are lost.

If a file is damaged

Starting with Replikanto 1.7.0.0, if one of these files cannot be read (for example, it was left empty by a crash while it was being saved), Replikanto discards it when the tab opens, writes a warning to the Log, and opens the rest of the tab normally. The warning says which link was lost, for example:

Replikanto: [Workspace] Could not read one saved leader-to-follower order link, so Cancel and Change may not reach that follower order.

If you see it, check the open orders of your follower accounts and cancel or adjust any follower order the leader can no longer reach.
