Yes — using Replikanto's Ratio copy method, you can set a different contract quantity for each follower account, for example 1 contract on one follower and 3 contracts on another while the leader trades 1 contract. This is the same technique used to copy trades to accounts of different sizes or risk profiles.
Selecting the Ratio Method
In the Replikanto window, click the Method dropdown on the left side and change it from Exact Quantity to Ratio. Once selected, a Ratio column appears in the Follower Accounts table.
1 = the Method dropdown (Exact Quantity is the default); 2 = Ratio.
The Ratio copy method lets you define a ratio for each follower account. Replikanto multiplies the leader account's contract quantity by that ratio to calculate how many contracts the follower trades.
Setting Different Ratios per Follower
To trade 1 contract on one follower and 3 contracts on another, configure each follower with its own ratio. For example, if the leader places an order for 1 mini contract:
- Set the first follower account's ratio to 1.0 so it receives 1 contract.
- Set the second follower account's ratio to 3.0 so it receives 3 contracts.
1 = Method set to Ratio; 2 = the Ratio column: Sim102 at 1.00, Sim103 at 3.00.
When the leader places an order, Replikanto copies the trade to each follower, adjusting the quantity based on its ratio. So a 1-mini order from the leader becomes 1 mini for the first follower (1 x 1.0) and 3 minis for the second follower (1 x 3.0). In general, set a follower's ratio to the quantity you want it to trade, divided by the leader's typical order size.
The leader Sim101 buys 1 ES contract. 1 = the leader's position, 1 contract; 2 = the ratios 1.00 and 3.00 (dimmed while the followers are in a trade); 3 = Sim102 holds 1 contract and Sim103 holds 3.
How the Ratio Calculation Works
- Ratio range: You can set a ratio between -100 and 100 for each follower account.
- Fractional ratios: Ratio values can be smaller than 1, but a trade isn't copied if the resulting quantity rounds down to 0. For example, a calculation result greater than 0 and less than 1 — such as 0.9 — rounds to 0 contracts, so no trade is copied.
- Rounding down: The calculated follower contract quantity is always rounded down.
Reversing Order Direction (Hedging)
A negative ratio value reverses the direction of an order — for example, a buy on the leader becomes a sell on the follower. A ratio of -1 makes the follower hedge the leader's positions 1:1. See How do I reverse order direction on a follower? (Hedge) for setup details and order-rejection considerations.
Additional Considerations
- ATM Copy: It's recommended to use the Ratio copy method together with the ATM Copy feature when trading inside the NinjaTrader PC software.
- Cross Order: Combining the Ratio method with the Cross Order feature can increase the chance of an order not being filled on one side, since the two instruments may not move exactly in sync, especially during high volatility.
- Verifying the calculation: You can use this spreadsheet to check how Replikanto will calculate a follower's quantity before you trade live.
