The latency for trades to be copied using Replikanto can vary. These are the typical ranges:
- Local accounts (same machine): when the leader and follower accounts run on the same NinjaTrader instance, the copying latency is typically between 10ms and 200ms. (This latency refers to the time when an order submitted to the leader account is notified to the time when Replikanto submits the order to the local follower account).
- Local Network Mode (LAN/WiFi): when copying between two Replikanto instances on the same local network, the latency typically ranges between 50ms and 500ms.
- Remote Copy over the internet: when trade signals are sent between Replikanto instances over the internet (via our servers), the latency is typically between 100ms and 1000ms.
- The latency can increase when there are more follower accounts.
- The time between when the order is received by the broker and when it is filled by the market can vary, as the entire process takes place on the broker's side, and each can add some latency to the entire trade lifecycle. As soon as the order is submitted to the follower account, all the processing by the broker is not part of the copier's scope, but it can add time to the trade's lifecycle from order initialization to market fill. Understanding and knowing how to separate the two responsibilities is important for understanding the latency involved in copying.
Several factors contribute to the latency:
- CPU: The speed of your computer's CPU can affect the overall time it takes to copy trades.
- Number of Follower Accounts: The more follower accounts there are, the longer it may take to copy trades.
- NinjaTrader Processing: NinjaTrader processes order submissions, and the efficiency of this process impacts the overall copy time.
- Parallel Processing: Replikanto uses parallel processing to copy trades to multiple followers simultaneously, which aims to reduce latency as much as possible.
- Network: Local network connections are typically faster than internet connections. Remote copying depends on server locations which can add latency.
- TradingView Integration: If you're routing trades from TradingView through Tradovate to NinjaTrader before Replikanto copies them, be aware that each connection step (TradingView → Tradovate → NinjaTrader) adds its own latency before Replikanto even starts copying. For very fast scalping trades (lasting just a few seconds), this added latency can be significant. For optimal performance in such cases, trading directly from NinjaTrader is recommended.
It's important to consider that Replikanto is constantly being updated to improve the parallel processing and minimize any delays, and the developers recommend using the latest version of the product for optimal performance.
