How do I transfer my license to another machine?

Transferring a FlowBots license to another machine means pointing your existing license at the new computer's NinjaTrader signed Machine ID. You do not need to buy a new license: install the product on the new machine, generate its signed Machine ID, and update the Machine ID linked to your license.

Before you start

• You need access to the new (target) machine with NinjaTrader installed on it.
• The transfer is an immediate online process: your license is unregistered from the previous Machine ID and registered to the new one.
• After a change you must wait 2 hours before changing the Machine ID again, so follow the steps in order.

Step 1 — Install the FlowBots product on the new machine

1. Download the .zip NinjaScript add-on file from the FlowBots downloads page. There is no need to unzip it.
2. Open NinjaTrader and go to the Control Center window.
3. Navigate to Tools > Import > NinjaScript Add-On... and select the downloaded .zip file.
4. Accept all confirmations that may appear.
5. Restart NinjaTrader to complete the installation.

Step 2 — Generate the signed Machine ID on the new machine

1. In the NinjaTrader Control Center, click Help > 3rd party licensing.
2. In the Vendor Name field, type FlowBots — capital F and B.
3. In the User Defined ID field, type any text that identifies you or the machine, for example your first name, last name or company name.
4. Press Submit just once. This links the machine and the User Defined ID to the FlowBots vendor at the NinjaTrader license server.
5. Copy the newly generated Signed Machine ID, then close the “3rd party licensing” window.

Step 3 — Update the Machine ID linked to your license

1. Go to the FlowBots Machine ID Manager page.
2. Review the current Machine ID shown on the page.
3. Enter the new signed Machine ID you copied in Step 2.
4. Submit the change request.
5. Important: after a change you must wait 2 hours before making another one.

Step 4 — Restart NinjaTrader

Restart NinjaTrader on the new machine so the license change takes effect, then verify that the product works correctly.

When you need to transfer a license

• Moving to a new computer.
• Reformatting your existing computer.
• Reinstalling NinjaTrader.
• A Windows update, a BIOS/UEFI version change or a hardware upgrade changed your Machine ID.

Good to know

• The single PC license is a “one at a time” license. You can alternate between two machines with the Machine ID change tool, with no additional purchase, as long as only one machine is active at a time.
• There is no fixed limit on how many times you can transfer, but the 2-hour cooldown applies between each transfer.
