How to update the NinjaTrader Desktop?

Updating NinjaTrader Desktop ensures you have the latest bug fixes, security patches, and performance improvements. The update process is straightforward and preserves your saved workspaces and third-party add-ons.

Before you update

Before starting the update process, you may want to check your current NinjaTrader version. To do this:

1. Open NinjaTrader Desktop
2. Go to Help > About
3. Note your current version number

Steps to update NinjaTrader Desktop

1. Close NinjaTrader Desktop - The application must be closed before installing the new version
2. Log in to your NinjaTrader Account Dashboard - Use your username and password at https://account.ninjatrader.com/
3. Download the latest version - Click the "Download" button in the lower left-hand corner of the page, then select the version of NinjaTrader Desktop you wish to download
4. Locate the downloaded file - Find "NinjaTrader.install.msi" on your PC, typically in your Downloads folder
5. Run the installer - Double-click the installation file to launch the Installation Wizard
6. Complete the installation - Click "Next" to begin the installation and follow the prompts

After installation

Once the installation is complete:

• Launch NinjaTrader Desktop to verify the installation was successful
• Check your version again (Help > About) to confirm you're running the latest version

Important notes

• Workspaces and add-ons are preserved - Updating NinjaTrader Desktop will not affect your saved workspaces or installed third-party add-ons
• Replikanto does not need to be reinstalled - Starting with Replikanto 1.7.0.0, one Replikanto build runs on every NinjaTrader 8.1.6 or later, so Replikanto keeps working after you update NinjaTrader. If you run Replikanto 1.6.1.7 or older, a NinjaTrader update can stop Replikanto from loading; install Replikanto 1.7.0.0 or later once to fix it (it requires NinjaTrader 8.1.6 or later, so update NinjaTrader first if you are on an older version). • Administrator rights may be required - If prompted by Windows, allow the installer to run with administrator privileges
• Stable internet connection - Ensure you have a stable internet connection during download and installation
