This article explains how to change a setting for a whole follower group in one step from the group header row in Replikanto: turn all its accounts on or off, switch ATM Copy, Market Only or Cross Order for all of them, and set the Ratio, Pct. Change or Pre Allocation value of all of them. It also explains the confirmation questions you may see and the message that lists accounts that were not changed ("Accounts not changed", Warning [1124]). Follower groups are available starting with Replikanto 1.7.1.0.
How the header cells work
A group header row (for example Simulation (3)) has the same cells as an account row. Each cell acts on every account of the group, using the same rules as the cell of a single account. Everything happens in one step, an account is written only if its value actually changes, and one Information line "Group action applied" is added to the Log tab each time.
| Header cell | What you do | What it does to the group |
|---|---|---|
| On (status circle) | Click | Turns on the accounts that are Off, or turns the whole group Off (see "Status" below) |
| ATM Copy | Click | Turns ATM Copy on for all, or off when it is on for all |
| Market Only | Click | Turns Market Only on for all, or off when it is on for all |
| Cross Order | Click | Moves all accounts to the next Cross Order target |
| Ratio, Pct. Change, Pre Allocation | Type a value and press Enter | Sets that value on the accounts of the group |
| Flatten (×) | Click, then answer Yes or No | Flattens every account of the group (closes the position and cancels the working orders) after a Yes/No question, default No. Never the leader. Disarmed accounts are re-armed only if they end flat. Details in the article Flatten or Rearm a whole follower group |
The header of the "Simulation (3)" group (one account On, one Disarmed, one Off). 1 = status circle, 2 = ATM Copy, 3 = Market Only, 4 = Cross Order, 5 = Ratio, 6 = Flatten.
Hover over a header cell to read its tooltip. A half-filled box in the ATM Copy, Market Only or Cross Order cell means the accounts differ ("The accounts in this group differ. A click applies to all of them."). Accounts that are not connected are never changed (see "Members that are not connected" below).
Status: turn a group on or off
Click the status circle of the header. Its tooltip reads: "Click to turn on the accounts of this group that are Off. When none can be turned on, click to turn them all Off, Disarmed and Out of Sync ones included. Turning on never re-arms a Disarmed account; use Rearm."
- If the group has an account that is Off and can be turned on, the click turns on only the accounts that are Off. Accounts that are already On or Out of Sync stay as they are. A Disarmed account is not turned on by this click: it stays Disarmed and is listed in the message. Use Rearm for it (see the article Flatten or Rearm a whole follower group).
- If no account can be turned on (every account is already On, Out of Sync or Disarmed, or the Off ones cannot be turned on), the click turns all the accounts of the group Off, including Out of Sync and Disarmed ones. This is the second click of "on, then off".
- An Off account that cannot be turned on stays Off and is listed in the message. This happens when the account is already the leader of another Replikanto tab, or when its Cross Order target has no equivalent on the leader's instrument.
Unlike the settings below, the Status click is not skipped for accounts in a trade: you can always turn an account Off, and that is why the first question below exists.
Confirmation questions
When the click would change something, Replikanto may ask a Yes/No question first. The default answer is No, and No changes nothing. The window is titled "Follower group 'Simulation'" (with the name of your group) and ends with "Do you want to continue?". There are three cases:
- Turning off accounts that are in a trade. "2 of the 3 accounts in this group hold a position or working orders. Turning them Off stops Replikanto copying anything to them, exits included, and leaves those positions unmanaged."
- Turning on while the leader holds a position. "The leader holds a position. The accounts you turn on copy only what the leader does from now on; they do not open the position it already holds, so they can show Out of sync."
- A Copy Method that resizes the other followers. With the Methods Pooled Quantity, Available Cash or Net Liquidation, the size of each follower depends on how many followers are active. If an account outside the group is in a trade, or the leader holds a position, you see: "Changing the number of active followers resizes every follower under this Copy Method."
The question shown when you turn the whole group Off while some accounts hold a position or working orders. No is the default button.
A click that changes something also resets the memory of the Toggle off / Toggle on link, exactly as changing the accounts by hand does.
ATM Copy and Market Only
The ATM Copy cell exists only while ATM Copy is checked in the right-click menu of the tab. Click the header cell to turn the option on for the group, unless every eligible account already has it on, in which case the click turns it off.
- ATM Copy is never turned on for an account that has Market Only on, and Market Only is never turned on for an account that has ATM Copy on. The two do not work together, so that account is skipped and listed: "Market Only is on, so ATM Copy was not turned on" or "ATM Copy is on, so Market Only was not turned on". The header never creates that pair.
- Accounts that are in a trade are skipped (see "Accounts that were not changed").
- Turning the option off applies to every account of the group that is not in a trade.
Cross Order
The Cross Order cell needs the Cross Order option checked in the right-click menu of the tab, an instrument selected on the leader, and at least one counterpart instrument for it.
- If all the accounts of the group (those not in a trade) have the same Cross Order target, a click moves them all to the next one, in the same cycle as a single account: Off, first counterpart, second counterpart, back to Off.
- If the accounts differ, a click turns them all Off. Click again to start the cycle.
- An account whose target has no equivalent on the leader's instrument, or that is already the leader of another Replikanto tab, is left Off and listed.
Ratio, Pct. Change and Pre Allocation
These are typed values, not clicks. Only the header cell of the active copy Method exists (Ratio for the Ratio Method, Pct. Change for the Pct Change Method, Pre Allocation for the Pre Allocation Method).
- Look at the header cell. It shows the common value, or a dash (—) when the accounts of the group have different values.
- Click the cell, type the new value and press Enter.
- The value is set on every account of the group that is not in a trade and has a different value.
Type the value in the Ratio cell of the group header (here 1.5) and press Enter.
The limits are the ones of the single-account cells:
- Ratio: from -100 to 100 (from 0 to 100 in Compliance Mode).
- Pct. Change: from -100 to 100.
- Pre Allocation: a whole number from 0 to 65535 (a decimal value is rounded).
A value outside the limits, or one that is not a number, is rejected: nothing is changed and no window appears. The Log tab shows "A group action was dropped because the value is not accepted; nothing was changed." Replikanto never adjusts the value to the nearest allowed one.
The header cell is grayed out and read-only only when all the accounts of the group are in a trade.
Accounts that were not changed
If the Lock follower settings while in a trade property is on (the default), the settings of an account in a trade are locked, and a header action skips it for ATM Copy, Market Only, Cross Order, Ratio, Pct. Change and Pre Allocation. The Status click is not skipped. When any account is left unchanged, a window titled "Follower group 'Simulation'" lists them, and the Log tab gets "Warning [1124] A group action did not apply to some members." with the list of accounts and reasons. The window reads, for example, "Group 'Simulation': accounts changed: 1. Accounts not changed:" followed by one paragraph per reason (up to 8 account names each, then "..."):
| Message | What it means and what to do |
|---|---|
| In a trade; flatten them or wait for the trade to finish | The account holds a position or working orders and its settings are locked. Flatten it or wait for the trade to end, then click again. |
| Market Only is on, so ATM Copy was not turned on | Turn Market Only off for that account first if you want ATM Copy. |
| ATM Copy is on, so Market Only was not turned on | Turn ATM Copy off for that account first if you want Market Only. |
| Left Off: the Cross Order target has no equivalent on the leader instrument | Pick a Cross Order target for that account, or change the leader instrument. |
| Left Off: the account is already the leader of another Replikanto tab | An account cannot be a leader in one tab and a follower in another. Remove it from one of them. |
| Disarmed, left as they are; use Rearm | Status On never re-arms. Use the group's Rearm button, or the tab's Rearm button. |
| Still Disarmed: they hold a position, or being flat could not be confirmed. Flatten it, or use the tab's Rearm button | Appears after Rearm or Flatten on a group. Check the account's position first. |
| Not connected, so not changed | The account belongs to a custom group but its connection is offline. Reconnect the broker. |
| Could not be changed; see the Log tab | Writing that account failed. The Log tab has the reason. |
The "Accounts not changed" message: Sim102 was changed, Sim103 is in a trade and Sim104 has Market Only on, so ATM Copy was not turned on for it.
Nothing is copied differently for the accounts that were skipped: they simply keep their previous settings.
Members that are not connected
A custom group can include an account whose broker connection is offline (the header shows a count such as (1/2)). Such an account has no row, so a click does not change it and it is left out of the header figures. The only exception is turning the group Off with the Status click: that is saved for the offline accounts too, so they stay Off when the connection comes back. They are never turned on from the header, and a message may list them as "Not connected, so not changed".
Examples
Turn on a whole prop-firm group
- Find the group header (for example Prop firms (3)) and click its status circle.
- If the leader is in a trade, answer the question. Accounts you turn on copy only what the leader does from now on.
- Check the circles: any account that stayed Disarmed needs Rearm.
Give the same ratio to every account of a group
- Make sure the tab's Method is Ratio. The header Ratio cell shows a dash because the ratios differ.
- Type 0.5 in the header Ratio cell and press Enter.
- If a window lists accounts in a trade, wait for those trades to end and type the value again.
