FlowBots add-ons are compiled for NinjaTrader 8, but a single build cannot always cover every NinjaTrader release. When that happens we publish more than one installation file in .zip format, each one enabled for a different range of NinjaTrader versions. This article explains why there is more than one download, and how to pick the right .zip for your machine.
Why there is more than one .zip file
Our products (add-ons) are compiled to be compatible with all versions of NinjaTrader, but in some cases we are unable to achieve multi-compatibility across every version, forcing us to release two or more different builds of our products for different versions of NinjaTrader. It is therefore necessary to choose the installation file in .zip format that is compatible with the version of NinjaTrader that will be running on your machine.
Which .zip matches your NinjaTrader version
There are currently three releases of our products, prepared for the following NinjaTrader version ranges:

These ranges are shown on the FlowBots downloads page, in the NinjaTrader Version column next to each product. Always treat that column as the authority: the number of builds and the ranges they cover change as new NinjaTrader versions are released.
Before you download
Step 1 — Check your NinjaTrader version
- Open the NinjaTrader Control Center window.
- Go to Help > About.
- Note the exact version number, for example
8.1.7.1.
Step 2 — Choose the matching download
- Open the FlowBots downloads page.
- Find your product and compare the NinjaTrader Version column with the version you noted in Step 1.
- Download the .zip file for the range that includes your version. There is no need to unzip it.
Install the file you downloaded
Once you have the .zip that matches your current NinjaTrader version, follow the steps described in How do I install a FlowBots product/add-on? to proceed with the installation of the correct version. The same .zip file is used both to install the product for the first time and to update it.
If you install the wrong .zip
When the build does not match your NinjaTrader version, the add-on may fail to load: NinjaTrader can show a pop-up saying the add-on cannot be found, or the product simply does not appear in the Control Center. To fix it, download the build for your version range and import it again — the full procedure is in Replikanto stops loading after a NinjaTrader upgrade (version mismatch).
After you upgrade NinjaTrader
Upgrading NinjaTrader itself can move you outside the range your installed build supports. Check the range your build covers:
- If your new NinjaTrader version is still inside that range, no reinstall is needed — the build you have keeps working.
- If NinjaTrader has moved beyond what your build supports, download the newer .zip from the downloads page and import it again.
