If an instrument does not appear on the list in NinjaTrader, there are a few things to try.
- Manually enter the contract symbol: You can manually enter the symbol for the next contract month in the instrument selector and hit the Enter key. For example, to change from ES 09-24 to ES 12-24, you would type the new symbol in the instrument selector. After you type in the symbol for the next month, it will load the data series and populate the drop-down menu in your chart with the new month.
- Rollover the contract: If you are trying to load a chart and not seeing the next contract month, you may need to roll over the contract. You can do this in batch or manually.
- To perform a batch rollover, select Tools > Database Management from the Control Center window. The grid under Rollover Futures Instruments will show each instrument that is eligible for rollover. Click 'Rollover' to update each instrument to the next contract month.
- To manually roll over a contract, type the next contract expiry in the window's instrument selector and hit the Enter key.
- Check the contract symbology: You can change the symbology style displayed for futures contracts in the NinjaTrader Desktop app. To do this, navigate to Tools > Options from the top of the Control Center. Highlight the General Options on the left, then select an option for "Symbology display style" on the right. Your selection will be reflected in the NinjaTrader Desktop, Web, and Mobile apps after a restart. If no preference is chosen, your NinjaTrader Desktop will display the Numeric style by default. Note that selecting a Symbology Display Style on your Account Dashboard will override any settings selected in the Options window on the NinjaTrader Desktop app.
It may also be helpful to confirm that your data feed is properly connected, and that the specific instrument you are looking for is available through that feed.
