To use the Cross Order feature in Replikanto, which allows you to copy trades between Micro and Mini instruments, or vice versa, you must first select the Cross Order column for the follower account you wish to apply it to. This will enable the use of a different instrument for the follower than the one used on the leader account.
Key Points Regarding the Cross Order Feature:
- Contract Quantity: The number of contracts in the order will remain the same when copied to the follower account. For instance, if you trade one contract on the leader account using a Mini instrument, the follower account will also trade one contract using the Micro instrument.
- Instrument Compatibility: It is not possible to use Cross Order with instruments that have vastly different prices, such as ETFs versus futures contracts (e.g., QQQ <> NQ or SPY <> ES).
- Predefined Cross Order Instruments: Replikanto has a list of pre-defined cross order instruments, including ES ↔ MES, NQ ↔ MNQ, YM ↔ MYM, and others. A full list can be found in the product description. You can also customize your cross order instruments.
-
Customization: Users can add or edit cross-order instrument relations, even after Replikanto is installed, by modifying the
ReplikantoCrossOrderRelationship.json
file. This file should be placed in the\Documents\NinjaTrader 8\bin\Custom
directory. - Ratio Copy Method: You can use the Ratio copy method to define a ratio for the follower account, which can be useful when using the cross order feature. For example, you can use a negative ratio value to reverse the direction of an order.
How to Customize Cross Order Instruments:
-
Locate the JSON file: Find the
ReplikantoCrossOrderRelationship.json
file within the Replikanto zip file or in the\Documents\NinjaTrader 8\bin\Custom
folder. - Edit the file: Open the JSON file with a text editor. You can add or edit the instrument relations according to your needs. For example, you can change the relation from CL <> QM and QM <> MCL to CL <> MCL.
- Save the file: After making the changes, save the file without changing its name.
-
Place the file: Copy the modified file to the
\Documents\NinjaTrader 8\bin\Custom
folder. - Restart NinjaTrader: Restart NinjaTrader and reopen Replikanto to apply the changes.
Important Notes:
- Volatility: Using the Cross Order feature with different instruments may result in orders not being filled on one side due to price variations, particularly during high volatility. This may occur because the price of two instruments, although they usually move together, can vary a few ticks at times.
- Multiple Instruments: If you need to copy multiple instruments from a leader account to followers, you must open a new Replikanto window or tab for each instrument.
- ATM Copy: When using the cross order feature, it is recommended to also use the ATM copy feature for better exit order management.
By following these steps and considerations, you can effectively use Replikanto's Cross Order feature to trade between Mini and Micro instruments.
